Yankees’ Greg Bird has precautionary MRI on his back

Greg Bird had a precautionary MRI on his back Tuesday morning, but he feels better and hopes to play on Wednesday.

Bird was scratched from Monday’s lineup due to back spasms. Results of the MRI are not known yet.

The 24-year-old Yankees first baseman has missed most of the last two seasons due to injury.

The Yankees play the Rays on Tuesday night at Citi Field due to Hurricane Irma.
