The Mets acquired Eric Hanhold from the Brewers as the player to be named later to complete the Aug. 12 trade involving Neil Walker.
The right-handed pitcher went 8-3 with two saves and a 3.94 ERA in 30 games, three starts for Class A Carolina (A) of the Carolina League in 2017. The 6-5, 220-pounder struck out 60 and issued 21 walks this season.
Walker was part of the Mets’ veteran sell off last month as the team also traded Lucas Duda to Tampa, Addison Reed to the Red Sox, Jay Bruce to the Indians and Curtis Granderson to the Dodgers.
The Mets sent the veteran second baseman and cash to the Brewers. Walker was owed just under $ 5 million on his $ 17.1 million deal for 2017.
