Alejandro Bedoya is showing Fox News’ Tucker Carlson a red card.
The U.S. national soccer team midfielder took exception to Carlson’s anti-immigration Twitter post.
In the wake of President Trump’s latest attempt at a ban on immigrant travel, Fox News political commentator took to Twitter on Thursday night in support of the executive action.
“Why does America benefit from having tons of people from failing countries come here? @FoxNews,” Carlson asked.
Bedoya, born to Colombian immigrants in Englewood, N.J., fired back at Carlson on Friday.
“Because immigrants, like my parents, come/came here and have successful careers and pay taxes. Immigrants built this country!”
Bedoya, who started three games for the U.S. at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and has 59 caps on his national team resume, currently plays for the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer.
Bedoya’s father, Adriano, played soccer professionally in Colombia before immigrating to the U.S.
